HIGHLIGHTS OF COUNCIL MEETING

JANUARY 3, 2012

Pastor’s Report: Report reflected the attendance for Christmas Eve services (approximately 150), prayer concerns & the expectations of the upcoming annual meeting. Pastor also reported the cancellation of the Christmas pageant due to time constraints in the planning & rehearsing but a special Epiphany service will be held.
Learning Team: The Wednesday evening lectionary-based bible study included a special musical Advent bible study, learning scriptural traditions behind verses of the hymn “Emmanuel”, exploring phrases such as “Key of David”, “Branch of Jesse”, “Dayspring from high”. The high school youth (with the help of Thrivent) made Christmas stockings stuffed with personal items. The stockings were gifts to residents of local elder care facilities visited during caroling.
Service Team: Service projects have made tremendous progress with Luther’s Lunch; in-reach ministries continue. During the next few weeks meetings are planned to better coordinate, promote participation & expand service projects.
